       Our researchers have worked in the field of construction for many decades.  These time proved methods have helped countless owners find the information needed to ensure the quality of their products.  This site will help you combat those less than scrupulous home owners, handymen and contractors who disregard local building codes.  We have witnessed many home owners calling building inspections and building codes "a waste of money'.  We have witnessed the look of discuss on those faces when they are on the receiving end of one of those people.  

      They will find when they move in if the renovation of major systems, such as, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Siding, insulation, windows, additions, garages, Kitchens, and Bathrooms where installed to code.  Hopefully the faults will not be found faulty during emergency situations that can cause death during fire, thunderstorm, high winds, or flood.     

Definitions and Licensing requirement:

Do-it-yourself:  The practice or hobby of building or repairing things for oneself, usually in one's own home.  Never licensed.

Handyman: A person skilled in various odd jobs and other small tasks. Can do light electrical, plumbing, HVAC.  Not required to be licensed.  

Light Electrical, plumbing, HVAC: Electrical sockets, plugs, ceiling fans, lights, sink facets, garbage disposals, filters, and other minor fixtures not installed in walls.

Contractor: One that agrees to furnish materials or perform services at a specified price, especially for construction work.  In most states plumbing, electrical, and HVAC contractors require licenses.
 
General Contractor:  A person or business entity that contracts to be in charge of a building project usually involving the use of subcontractors called also original contractor prime prime contractor.  Not required to be licensed in most states.

Project Manager:  is the person accountable for accomplishing the stated project objectives. Key project management responsibilities include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the triple constraint for projects, which is cost, time, and scope.  No license needed unless working as an electrician, plumbing, or HVAC project manager.

Superintendent:  A person who oversees or directs some work, enterprise, establishment, organization, district, etc.; supervisor.  No license needed unless working as an electrician, plumbing, or HVAC superintendent.

Foreman:  A person in charge of a particular department, group of workers, etc., as in a factory or the like.  No license needed unless working as an electrician, plumbing, or HVAC Foreman.

Sub-Contractor:
 A person who or business that contracts to provide some service or material necessary for the performance of another's contract.  Not required to be licensed unless they are electricians, plumbers, or HVAC contractors.

Electrician: A person who installs, operates, maintains, or repairs electric devices or electrical wiring.  Must be licensed in most states.

Plumber:  A person who installs and repairs piping, fixtures, appliances, and appurtenances in connection with the water supply, drainage systems, etc., both in and out of buildings.  Must be licensed in most states.

HVAC Technician:  A person who installs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning.  Must be licensed in most states. 

Architect: A person who engages in the profession of architecture.  Must be licensed in states.

Home Inspector: A person who conducts a non-invasive examination of a home to detect any potential systems or components requiring attention. A home owner receives a detailed report of the condition of his/her home at the time of the inspection so that he/she can plan for needed repairs and upgrades when it is time to make them.   Most states do not require licensing.

Non-invasive:  Not entering or penetrating walls or disturbing fixtures installed or hidden in walls.
